INGV at the European Forum on the New Space Economy to Celebrate… Space!

The full extended name of INGV talks a lot about research and innovation. We’re talking about the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, that is gearing up for an exciting three-day event at the NSE Expoforum. INGV exhibition booth will be filled with experiments, games, immersive experiences to celebrate the National Space Day on 16th december, that is also going to be NSE Expoforum opening day for a three days of Space and innovation discovering, at the Fiera di Roma.

The National Space Day marks a milestone in Italy’s space history: this year we’re going to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the launch of Italy’s first satellite, San Marco 1 that happened the 16th december 1964 and still remains the symbol of Italy’s enduring contributions to Space exploration.
INGV is also celebrating its 25th anniversary in NSE 2024. Through its Earth Space Observations Center (COS-INGV), the institute will offer a comprehensive showcase of how space technologies are revolutionizing the study of geophysical phenomena, including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and environmental monitoring.
INGV booth: we’re here to suprise you!
Visitors to the INGV stand at NSE Expoforum in Fiera di Roma can enjoy a variety of engaging and educational activities such as the Planeterella Simulator: a virtual experience of the mesmerizing beauty of polar auroras, recreated in a darkened room, unveiling the mysteries of Earth’s magnetic field. We’ll show innovative Instruments like HERMES and PEGASO, which have flown in the stratosphere to gather scientific data from aerospace, and also interactive Experiments to engage visitors with laboratory instruments to understand how satellite data is calibrated and analyzed.
There will also be a Volcanic Cloud Studies, to discover how studying volcanic clouds aids air traffic safety and environmental monitoring. Last but not least, a Space-based Monitoring to explore cutting-edge techniques for observing sea levels, seismic signals, and volcanic activity from space. For younger visitors and the curious at heart, the event will feature educational games and interactive quizzes about the wonders of space. Visitors to The Bianca Box stand can also look forward to Adaptation for Space and Technology, a dedicated space to explore how this method seamlessly integrates into the space and technology sectors.
Insightful Seminars
In addition to the hands-on activities, INGV researchers will host seminars, including the “Space Makes Us Less Vulnerable” and “Radar Eyes on Earth” These presentations will highlight the critical role of space technologies in everyday life, from disaster preparedness to environmental protection.
